Angels in Pink: Kathleens Story

By Lurlene McDaniel
The novel Angels in Pink: Kathleen’s Story is a teen, drama, romance book. It’s about a girl (Kathleen) going to do something she doesn’t want to do for the summer and she ends up finding love. She never expects this would happen to her, so she is afraid to fall in love. There are lots of conflicts along the way but it all turns of pretty good in the end. (A typical teen romance). This book was different though. It is the best teen, drama, romance book I have ever read.
This teen novel was excellent because I loved the plot, even though it was a sad situation. Kathleen has a mother a disease and Kathleen’s father died. Kathleen then goes into the Pink Angels program with her two best friends Raina and Holly. The Pink Angels program is a volunteer program to help in a hospital. But as all the stories go (they girl randomly meets the boy) as she’s working in the hospital she meets Carson. A bad boy who got put into the program because his parents forced him to. He ends up being the love of her life; she doesn’t know that yet though. As the summer goes on they go through amazing experiences and awful conflict.
The biggest quarrel of the summer comes up. Carson and Kathleen are coming home from their date and Kathleen is walking u to her house when she notices something. The porch light isn’t on her Mom always left the porch light on. She raced to the door, opened it up, and there was her mother lying on the ground not breathing. If I was in this situation I would feel so devastated. To come home to my mother like that, it would scar me for life. That investment would always be there to haunt me. They called the ambulance and her mother got care. When tragedy occurs it puts couples to the test. There are ones who go through it all, the other ones leave.
Throughout all the tragedy there is love. If I am ever in a situation like this I hope I hav someone who will stand by my side and never give up. In the end everything turned out great. Kathleen’s Mom got better; Carson and Kathleen are closer than ever, and Kathleen has her best friends at her side. This puts relations ships to the test some will break but in the end you will be left with the people that care about you most.
