Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the best holiday in the entire world. It has the finest food, and the best celebration. I also think it’s the best holiday because it brings everyone together.
The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621. It brought the Pilgrims and Native Americans together by making them work together. It was the only time it seemed like there was peace between everyone. Everyone was thankful for what they had even if it wasn’t a lot.
Every year for Thanksgiving we pretty much always go somewhere new to eat, somewhere different from the year before. But what always stays the same is that I am with family. We have gone out to eat and we have stayed at home to eat. I personally think staying home to eat is better. You get to choose when to eat, how much you eat, and what you eat. When you go out to eat (like I did last year) I had a weird experience. Last year we went to Karl Ratsch’s (German restaurant) it had lots of older people in it, it smelled abnormal (like old carpet and mashed potatoes), and the food wasn’t the greatest. I muddled through it though because I was with my family, and that’s what matters most. I felt like it was a good experience though, because I know there are people in the world who go with so much less everyday.
Everybody has their family traditions. I think it’s best to stay true to your traditions, because those are the things you will look back on when you’re older. Good or bad it will be the times you will remember it forever. That’s why I think Thanksgiving is the best holiday. It brings you closer with your family. You don’t have to worry about gifts. You are just there to be thankful for each other and everything you have.

Quotes

What are quotes? What makes quotes stand out when famous people declare them?  What do they actually mean? They sound fanatical sometimes, but usually have lots of meaning.
Some of my favorite quotes are….
- “Dogs never bite me. Just humans.” By Marilyn Monroe,
-“When one door is closed, another one is opened.” alleged Bob Marley.,
-“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attitude of the strong.” Said Mahatma Gandhi.
-“Paris is one of the most beautiful places in all the world.” Unfortunately I was so homesick that I couldn’t appreciate its beauty.” said Tyra Banks.
- “Ok, you want me in a cage, then I will come out in beast mode.” Said Lil Wayne.
All of these of these quotes have lots of meaning.  The quote by Marilyn Monroe, “Dogs never bite me, Just humans.” I think this means people can be really mean and nasty and all they want to do is tear you down.
Bob Marley once said “When one door is closed, another one is opened.” This means if one great opportunity passes there will always be another one.
I found Gandhi’s quote to the most thoughtful.  “The week can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attitude of the strong.”  I think this means forgiveness makes you a better person, and being unforgiving makes you snobby. Forgiveness is better than holding a grudge and possibly loosing this person for ever.
Tyra Bank’s quote was most relevant to me. “Paris is one of the most beautiful places in all the world.” Unfortunately I was so homesick that I couldn’t appreciate its beauty.”  I really got what she meant it was straight to the point. She is saying that going out is fun but sometimes you need to go home and get away from all the drama.  There is no place like home!
Lil Wayne quote is my favorite.  I feel it is a good life lesson. He says “Ok, you want me in a cage, then I will come out in beast mode.”  He is basically saying that if people are trying to hold you back you need to come out and give it your all. Just to prove them wrong.
Overall, quotes can have a lot of meaning; some are inspirational and some are heartbreaking. What they all seem to have in common is a very strong message!
